They were 2 weeks old yesterday and Captain weighed in at 3 lbs 2 oz. and Zin at 3 lbs 6 oz. Captains eyes have been open for a couple days now and Zin's are almost all the way open.

The NewBreenies are 12 days old today... growing by leaps and bounds.

Puppy Chunkers

Oh my these two are puppy chunkers... growing like leaps and bounds and chubby! No lack of milk for these guys.

Okay, time to get caught up! Puppies are 1 week old this evening! Here are some photos of them over the past week. We should have had a litter of 5 but unfortunately we lost 3 puppies due to one becoming detached too soon during whelping and a stuck puppy in the birth canal and the delay caused fluid in the lungs on the third one. Yes I lubricated, feathered and pulled but couldn't get the stuck one out in time. Yes, I cried. I have been very fortunate over the years but it still stinks loosing pups.

The good news is that we have 1 very strong, healthy and plump baby boy and ditto on a baby girl! I thought the girl was liver, but now looks like both are Black!

Things are happening...

Pre whelping labor began last night... just overall restlessness all night long and neither Sabrina nor I got much sleep. No big contractions or labor et. Then at 2:50 p.m. this afternoon... contractions began, a bit of fluid expelled, lots of getting up and wanting to go outside to potty. We expect the first puppy should be coming along fairly soon... very strong nesting going on and frequent urination... very restless...
